2023 Benjamin Elementary Chess Tournament
Date: Saturday, March 04th, 2023
Location: Benjamin Elementary School, 6006 Ireland Grove Road, Bloomington, IL 61705
Parking: Car Pooling recommended.
Sections, Number of Rounds, and Time Limits:
➢ Lower Primary (K-1)
➢ Upper Primary (2-3)
➢ Elementary (4-5): 5 rounds G/30 Delay 5
➢ Junior High (6-8): 4 rounds G/45 Delay 5
Registration is limited to the first 250 entries.
Entry Fee: $20, checks made payable to Benjamin Elementary Chess Club.
Registration deadline is 7:00 PM Thursday, March 02nd, 2023.
No Clubs
Check in and all changes are due by 8:30 AM on Saturday.
Changes not in by 8:30am will get 1st round bye.
First round will start at 9:00 A.M. with subsequent rounds to follow as soon as possible.
USCF Registrations: USCF membership required, JTP acceptable for K-3. Make sure USCF memberships are current through March 4th, 2023.
- Trophies/Prizes Trophies for top 3 teams per section.
- Top 5 Individuals in each section Class trophies in each section
- Biggest upset and Unrated Trophy in each section
- Various Grade and Class level trophies
- Participation awards for all K-1

Concessions will be available that support Benjamin School.
Food Service: Breakfast Items, Gondolas, Vegetarian Gondolas, Pizza, Somosa, Snacks and Beverages will be available.

Sections:
Lower Primary K-1: 7 rounds, Swiss system, no elimination, 30 minute time control, 5 second delay
Upper Primary 2-3: 7 rounds, Swiss system, no elimination, 45 minute time control, 5 second delay
Elementary 4-5: 7 rounds, Swiss system, no elimination, 60 minute time control, 5 second delay
Junior High 6-8: 7 rounds, Swiss system, no elimination, 60 minute time control, 5 second delay

Round starting times K-1 Section: 10:00, 12:30, 2:00, and 3:30
Round starting times 2-3 Section: 10:00, 12:30, 2:45, and 5:00
Round starting times 4-5 & 6-8 Sections: 10:00, 12:45, 3:15, and 5:45
Sunday:
Round starting times K-1 Section: 9:00, 10:30, 12:30 Trophies ASAP, estimated 1:45 PM.
Round starting times 2-3 Section: 9:00, 11:00, 1:15 Trophies ASAP, estimated 3:15 PM.

Players must come from the state of Illinois.
Top four players count toward team score.
No Club Teams.
Zero point only byes last round.
Byes for any single round must be requested before the end of the first round. Only one half point bye allowed for tournament.
All other rules/regulations shall be in accordance to ICA Bylaws, Bid Guidelines and the USCF Rulebook.
